The New Zealand Racing Board was restructured and replaced by TAB NZ under the Racing Industry Act 2020, which designates TAB NZ as the sole licensed racing and sports betting operator in New Zealand while regulatory oversight sits with the Department of Internal Affairs and the Racing Integrity Board.

By January 2011, the NZRB completed its installation of the new Typhoon betting system, which replaced the 28-year-old Jetbet system.
