In Race 5 today, we recognised the outstanding career of jockey Craig Staples as he officially retires from the saddle after riding 638 winners. 👏 A respected figure in WA racing, Staples will now continue his work with the Western Australian Jockeys Association following a terrific career in the saddle. We send our best wishes to a strong contingent of Western Australian jockeys and horses competing interstate in Adelaide and Melbourne this weekend. 🐎 In the Group 1 The Goodwood at Morphettville (Race 8 – 2:30pm), Lucy Fiore reunites with Quokka placegetter Talkanco, Chris Parnham partners Meridius and Karrakatta winner Super Smink also lines up in the feature sprint. William Pike also heads to Morphettville with a strong book of rides across the program. Former WA galloper and champion two-year-old Bustling also returns to racing on Saturday in the Tour D’Horse Sprint at Caulfield (Race 6 – 1:00pm), with WA-born jockey Mark Zahra in the saddle.
